What a restoration company actually does
The work splits into two phases that are often two different trades. Mitigation stops the damage spreading — extraction, containment, air movement and daily moisture readings until the material matches a dry reference elsewhere in the house. Reconstruction puts back the drywall, flooring and trim that came out.
Some firms do both. Some do only the first and hand off the second. It is worth asking early, because a quote covering only the drying looks far cheaper than one covering the whole job.
